Realtors/Lenders/Insurers

Flooded house in Lahaina
A homeowner watches as flood rushes into his propety while his dog enjoys a swim in muddy waters.

Real Estate agents, Lenders, and Insurance professionals, play an important role in the National Flood Ins-urance Program (NFIP).

Real estate agents act as representatives for pros-pective property own-ers. Understanding the NFIP is instrumental in effectively servicing their clients.

Federally-regulated lenders must require flood insurance for any loan that has, as collateral, a structure located in a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) in a participating NFIP community.

Insurance agents provide property owners with the opportunity to purchase federal flood insurance.
